Albany is now home to a dedicated aged care community centre thanks to a $1 million grant from the McGowan Government.

Officially opened today by Premier Mark McGowan and Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson, Clarence Community Centre provides a new base for a range of services for older residents in the Great Southern, including nursing, allied health and other therapeutic services.

The new building, while physically located in Albany, will also facilitate a mobile assessment service to communities like Bremer Bay, Kojonup, Ongerup and Walpole.

The $1 million investment forms part of the State Government's commitment to bring care close to home, regardless of where you live, and helps ensure some of the Great Southern's most vulnerable residents have access to high quality, patient-centred support services.

Clarence Community Centre will be operated by Hall & Prior - an established residential aged care provider in the Great Southern.

Comments attributed to Premier Mark McGowan:

"This brand-new facility will help to deliver quality aged care services for people in Albany and right across the Great Southern, helping to ensure local people can age close to home.

"We remain committed to supporting country communities to receive world class healthcare and this investment is another way we're delivering for the Great Southern."

Comments attributed to Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

"The opening of the Clarence Estate Community Centre will help ensure older residents in the Great Southern have even more access to dedicated nursing support as well as allied health and other therapeutic services.

"While the building may be physically located in Albany, we know the positive impact it will have will stretch as far as Bremer Bay, Kojonup, Ongerup and Walpole through the dedicated mobile service."
