Four new modular social homes have arrived in Collie and are being completed on site, in a boost to the region's social housing stock.

Two homes, each with three bedrooms and one bathroom, are being built on the same site, while two other homes are being constructed on different sites and comprise of five bedroom, two bathroom dwellings.

The remaining three homes are being constructed in Perth by Modular WA and are due to arrive in Collie around late March.

The seven modulars use high quality materials and have the same aesthetics and structural benefits of a home built on-site.

These modular social homes are part of the McGowan Government's record $2.4 billion investment in housing and homelessness services throughout WA, including the delivery of 3,300 social homes and maintenance and refurbishment to many thousands more.

Comments attributed to Housing Minister John Carey:

"Our Modular Build program is delivering new social homes, with the majority to be delivered across Western Australia, as part of our Government's $2.4 billion investment in social housing and homelessness services.

"Since our record investment we've added more than 1,000 social homes across WA and in the face of a heated construction, our reform programs - like the modular build program - are speeding up our social housing delivery.

"We have more than 90 modular homes under contract or construction, with seven modular social homes to be delivered in Collie-Preston."

Comments attributed to Collie-Preston MLA Jodie Hanns:

"It's very pleasing to see the first four of seven modular social homes being built across Collie-Preston come into town over the past few weeks.

"While the modular homes are constructed off site, once transported here to Collie, it's local trades and local business who will undertake works including assembly, earthworks, concreting, plumbing, electrical, landscaping and fencing - in a boost to our local economy.

"I'm the proud the McGowan Government has made the investment in these new social modular dwellings in Collie as they will provide a home to people and families on the public housing waitlist."
