Western Australia's potential to help power the global energy transition is on show this week at AOG Energy 2023.
Speaking at the official opening of the annual conference, Deputy Premier Roger Cook outlined how the McGowan Government is investing in the State's energy sector to ensure it is capatilising on opportunities that emerge as more countries transition to clean and renewable energy sources.
The Deputy Premier highlighted how Western Australia is on the cusp of becoming a new kind of global energy superpower, with an unprecedented number of renewable energy and critical minerals proposals currently under environmental assessment and a significant number of new referrals in the pipeline.
The McGowan Government is supporting this year's event, through its principal sponsor the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation.
Through its sponsorship, the WA Government has launched a new Aboriginal Capability Pavilion, providing opportunities for Aboriginal owned businesses to showcase their products, technologies, innovations and services to potential clients in the domestic and international energy sectors.
The McGowan Government's sponsorship of the event is also helping to promote the participation of local small and medium sized enterprises in major energy projects, and generate opportunities for WA companies to participate in global supply chains.
Running from 15 to 17 March, the three-day conference and exhibition is expected to attract 6000 delegates to Perth from almost 40 countries.
AOG Energy is the largest event of its kind in Australia, and in 2023, includes delegations from the United Kingdom, Norway, and Timor Leste.
