Western Australia's newest fellowship program launches today - aiming to attract world-leading health and medical researchers to the State.
The State Government's Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund has set up a Distinguished Fellows Program offering three five-year fellowships to leading research experts.
The $5 million scheme aims to encourage health and medical researchers based anywhere in the world to relocate to WA to lead a significant, high-quality innovative research program.
The fellowships are available to internationally recognised academic researchers and clinical researchers in all clinical disciplines - medical, allied health, nursing and midwifery - at an experienced associate professor or a recently tenured professor level.
The FHRI Fund provides a secure source of funding to drive health and medical research, innovation and commercialisation - aimed at improving the health of all Western Australians.
Research must be aligned with at least one of the FHRI Fund's focus areas - Aboriginal, rural and remote health, burden of diseases, and living with COVID-19 and long COVID.
One fellowship will be specifically dedicated to research in mental health.
