Perth band takes WA to world stage at Eurovision 2023

• Perth synth metal band Voyager to represent Australia at 67th Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool
• McGowan Government is supporting Voyager's Eurovision entry through the Contemporary Music Fund and Tourism WA
• Voyager's official music video 'Promise' showcases iconic WA landscapes like Hutt Lagoon pink lake and Kalbarri National Park 

Western Australia is taking to the world stage yet again, with Perth synth metal band Voyager showcasing WA's musical talent and spectacular natural scenery at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.

The Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Australia announced today that Voyager has been selected to represent Australia at Eurovision, the world's biggest song contest which attracts more than 160 million viewers to the global broadcast.

Voyager will be the first ever musical act to represent WA and the first ever band rather than individual performer representing the nation.

The music video for Voyager's Eurovision song, Promise, was partly filmed in iconic WA landscapes such as the bright pink Hutt Lagoon and Kalbarri National Park, including Natures Window.

Voyager is traveling to the UK through the McGowan Government's Contemporary Music Fund, which assists homegrown artists with projects that produce and promote their work and build links nationally and internationally. Tourism WA has assisted with the video's production

The 67th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Liverpool, United Kingdom from 9 to 13 May 2023. Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra won the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy, with their song Stefania. This year, the United Kingdom will host the competition on Ukraine's behalf with the theme United by Music.

Australia has been participating in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2015. The previous entries have all been solo artists including Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Kate Miller-Heidke and Dami Im.

Voyager are described as a 'genre-transfiguring act' with keytar solos and bombastic drumming.
