The major redevelopment of Bunbury Regional Hospital has reached an important milestone, with the McGowan Government calling for expressions of interest (EOI) for managing contractors to design and construct the $277.9 million project.

The EOI is the first step in appointing the managing contractor that will work with the State Government to deliver the development.

Bunbury Regional Hospital is one of the busiest hospitals in regional Western Australia. This significant investment in both new and refurbished infrastructure will service the growing South-West population as well as regular influxes of tourists, making it a key centre for healthcare services in the region.

The redevelopment will deliver additional beds, an expanded emergency department, increased operating theatre capacity, new maternity, birthing and neonatal services, new clinical equipment and new emergency access and mental health facilities, as well as WA's first regional teaching, training and research centre, and a boost to digital capability at the hospital.

The redevelopment is also expected to stimulate the local economy, with opportunities for local suppliers and contractors to be made available once the managing contractor has been appointed.

Early critical works, including a new carpark, were completed at Bunbury Regional Hospital in 2022.

The EOI is now available on Tenders WA. Applications close on 16 March 2023.
