The sights and sounds of Africa will ring across Perth's Ozone Reserve with the return of the popular Jambo Africa festival this weekend on the 4-5 March.

Citizenship and Multicultural Interests Minister Dr Tony Buti said the family friendly event, which is hosted by the Organisation of African Communities, is expected to attract more than 20,000 people.

Featuring a dazzling display of fashion, art and film, this festival will have people dancing to the irresistible rhythms of African drumming and exploring cuisine from more than 35 African countries.

'Jambo' is a Swahili greeting, which loosely translates as 'Hello'. It is understood in many African countries.

Bringing together the cultures of a vastly diverse continent, this two-day extravaganza is supported by the State Government with $105,000. This includes $80,000 provided through the Perth CBD revitalisation grants, which accelerate social and economic recovery in Perth and Northbridge.
