The Western Australian Women's Hall of Fame has been awarded a $33,500 Lotterywest grant to support its work acknowledging the accomplishments of WA women.

In a further demonstration of the McGowan Government's commitment to promoting women's achievements, Women's Interests Minister Sue Ellery today presented the grant to the WA Women's Hall of Fame ahead of its International Women's Day event in March.

The WA Women's Hall of Fame acknowledges and honours the significant contributions women have made to WA's community and history, as well as helping to foster respect for women and the ongoing work to progress gender equality.

The 13th WA Women's Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on 7 March at Government House Ballroom.

Past Hall of Fame inductees include leaders in business, education, sport, the arts, politics and the community sector. To date, 247 inspiring Western Australian women have been recognised.

The annual event is a part of wider International Women's Day celebrations being held on and around 8 March across WA, based on the theme of 'Cracking the Code: Innovation for a gender equal future'.

The State Government also supports the WA Women's Hall of Fame through a $100,000 grant over five years provided to support its increasing social impact on the community. A further $5000 sponsorship is provided annually to support the WA Women's Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
