Optus Stadium scores stunning award hat trick

Perth's Optus Stadium has again topped a national poll of Australian venues.
  • Optus Stadium has been voted Australia's best stadium for a third consecutive time in the 2022 Austadium Awards
  • 42 per cent of votes went to Perth's largest venue, in front of the MCG (19 per cent) and Accor Stadium (10 per cent)
  • HBF Park also ranked high in the 'Best Rectangular Stadium' category, second only to Sydney's brand new Allianz Stadium

Perth's Optus Stadium has again topped a national poll of Australian venues.

It is the third year in a row that the venue has taken out the top gong in the Austadium awards, as voted for by the public.

This weekend, Optus Stadium will mark five years since opening with more than 180 major events, 6,435 tours and more than 2000 Meetings & Special Events being held there since 2018.

This is the 60th award the Stadium has received in the five years since opening - including the international Venue of the Year award in 2022, World's Most Beautiful Stadium (Prix Versailles) and a slew of hospitality, tourism, architectural and event management awards.

HBF Park is currently undergoing significant renovations ahead of the FIFA Women's World Cup which commences in July this year. This is its highest ranking in the 'Best Rectangular Stadium' category, having previously ranked third and second in the 'Best A-League Stadium' category in 2021 and 2018 respectively.

Comments attributed to Acting Sport and Recreation Minister Stephen Dawson:

"The success of the stadium is a collective effort - from VenuesWest, Public Transport Authority, VenuesLive the operator, the players, entertainers, support staff, broadcasters, suppliers, partners, security and food and beverage staff and other stakeholders such as the Burswood Park Authority, Tourism WA and Town of Victoria Park to name a few.

"Since opening, the Stadium and Stadium Park have evolved into a 365 day a year destination with a seven day a week café, expansive parklands and The OZONE which is home to the Stadium's Behind the Scenes Tours, Indigenous Cultural Tours and the HALO and VERTIGO rooftop experiences, which has been enjoyed by 118,000 locals and tourists alike."
