  • New planning framework and scheme to set renewal plans for a 29 hectare area
  • Royal Agricultural Society to help identify future uses to ensure showground legacy

Plans for the renewal of the Claremont Showground precinct have taken a new step forward with the State Government today initiating an improvement plan for the area.

Best known to Western Australians as the home of the annual Perth Royal Show - the Claremont Showground is located close to the recently upgraded Claremont Train Station, which is serviced by the Fremantle and Airport lines.

Improvement Plan 57: Claremont Showground comprises approximately 29 hectares of land bound by Graylands Road to the west, Ashton Avenue to the east and the Fremantle rail line.

The State Government confirmed in 2019 that the Perth Royal Show would remain at its home at the Claremont Showground.

The improvement plan will enable the Western Australian Planning Commission to prepare the necessary planning guidelines to plan for - and facilitate - future development and new opportunities to help create a sustainable future for the iconic showground precinct.

It also provides for an improvement scheme to be developed allowing the State Government to progress and coordinate planning for the area.

The State Government will work with the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia to investigate, identify and facilitate a wider range of land uses within the showground precinct.
