    • Merredin, Bruce Rock and Narembeen residents and farm businesses benefit from digital connectivity upgrade
    • McGowan Government supporting access to high speed, reliable and affordable fixed wireless internet services

Businesses and residents in the shires of Merredin, Bruce Rock and Narembeen can now experience high quality digital connectivity with new infrastructure installed to enhance broadband coverage.

The McGowan Government contributed $500,000 to the project, which is now delivering high speed, reliable and affordable fixed wireless internet services to enterprises and residents in the area.

Narrogin telecommunications provider CRISP Wireless delivered the new fixed wireless network to the area, which includes 11 new fully operational communication towers covering an area of up to 9,300 square kilometres.

Each site is powered by solar panels, with deep cycle batteries providing up to 72 hours of back-up connectivity.

This project attracted strong co-investment from CRISP Wireless along with local in-kind support from the Shires.

Comments attributed to Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

"There has been a terrific response to the project already, with more than 80 customers already connected to the service - a large proportion of these agribusinesses.

"The much-needed upgrades provide farmers with improved access to modern smart farming technology, information sharing and data management to support a more efficient and productive business.

"This initiative is part of our government's Digital Farm Grants Program which is delivering fast, reliable, affordable and scalable broadband outside the fixed line and fixed wireless NBN."
