    • Applications are now open for phase two of the WA Government's Call Centre and Back Office Processing Scheme
    • $10 million in additional funding available to existing third-party call centre and back office processing operators in WA
    • Builds on the success of phase one, which thus far has created more than 350 jobs across the State

The State Government continues to create jobs for all Western Australians, with applications now open for phase two of its $24.9 million Call Centre and Back Office Processing Scheme.

Phase two of the scheme will make $10 million in funding available to existing call centre and back office processing operators in WA to expand or setup new operations.

Successful applicants will receive funding support at a rate of $10,000 per full-time job created in WA up to a maximum of $2 million.

Applicants will be able to use the funding to offset a variety of costs to improve the viability and competitiveness of their operations.

The scheme aims to create an additional 1600 entry level, full-time equivalent jobs in the digital sector, including roles in systems development, technical support, client services and back office processing.

In addition to creating more metropolitan and regional jobs, the scheme aims to increase the capacity of the digital sector, strengthen organisational capability, upskill call centre and back office processing staff, grow employment of diverse groups and encourage the adoption of new technologies.

In 2021, as part of the WA Recovery Plan, the State Government invested $14.9 million in phase one of the scheme.

To date, phase one of the scheme has created more than 350 jobs across the State, including 30 in regional areas.

Comments attributed to State Development, Jobs and Trade Minister Roger Cook:

"The Call Centre and Back Office Processing Scheme created vital jobs at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the employment of more than 350 Western Australians.

"With more call centre and back office processing services returning to Australia, phase two of the scheme will help WA operators compete for contracts and further support the development and expansion of the digital sector.

"Due to the nature of call centre and back office processing work, this scheme is helping Western Australians to enter or re-join the workforce, and gain more independence."
