    • 1.1 km shared path connecting Henley Brook Avenue and Egerton Drive now open
    • $355,000 path connects local shops, Egerton Park and Swan Valley Anglican Community School
    • McGowan Government facilitating investment of $347 million in walking and riding infrastructure over the next four years

Riding, walking, scootering and skating along Gnangara Road in Ellenbrook have been made safer thanks to a shared path upgrade between Henley Brook Avenue and Egerton Drive in the City of Swan.

The 1.1 kilometre, 3-metre-wide shared path will make it safer and easier for students and families walking and riding to Swan Valley Anglican School and provides better access to other community facilities like Egerton Park and the local shops.

The new path also connects to West Swan Road, allowing visitors and residents to harness pedal power to enjoy the Swan Valley's many attractions.

The path upgrade was funded by the McGowan Government as part of the cycling election commitment package and will play a role in community activities including the City of Swan's 2023 Bike in the Valley cycling event.

In addition, the City of Swan has also received a $300,000 Western Australian Bicycle Network grant to construct a 1 km shared path along Toodyay Road connecting Roe Highway to Lloyd Street.

The planned path will significantly improve safety for riders and walkers on the approach and entry to Midland.

Comments attributed to Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:

"Over the next four years, the McGowan Government is facilitating investment of $347 million to upgrade and construct more high-quality infrastructure for safe and connected riding and walking across the State.

"The shared path upgrade connecting Henley Brook Avenue and Egerton Drive will provide safe riding and walking connections to the local shops, Egerton Park and Swan Valley Anglican Community School.

"It will give Ellenbrook and Aveley residents more choices in how they get to school, work or to the iconic Swan Valley.

"This is a key election commitment and I'm pleased to see it progress so the growing community of West Swan has more transport options to help keep them safe and save them time."
