- $503,500 Lotterywest grant awarded to the Shire of Carnarvon
- Funding will activate recreation space for young people in Carnarvon
Carnarvon's Youth Precinct is set to be transformed, with a new bike pump track and major upgrades to the town's skate park and basketball court.
The Shire of Carnarvon has secured a Lotterywest grant of $503,500 for the precinct, located at Hutchinson Park in Carnarvon.
This is in addition to the $80,000 already committed by the McGowan Government, bringing the total State funding amount to $583,500 - giving new life to the youth precinct.
Along with the new and improved facilities, the project will also support art installations from local indigenous artists, and an ethnobotanical garden with seating areas for the enjoyment of the whole community.
Developing this vital infrastructure will provide a space where key service providers can deliver coordinated youth engagement projects that provide positive outcomes for the community.
Developing outdoor public spaces is an important strategy in helping young people stay active and engaged.
