    • $39.1 million invested in 2022-23 State Budget for Stage 2 facilities at Alkimos College
    • Expansion includes a student services block, performing arts centre, dance and visual arts studios, and specialist and STEM classrooms
    • New facilities to be ready for start of the 2024 school year
    • Delivering on a McGowan Labor Government election commitment

The McGowan Government has today announced the 2022-23 State Budget will include $39.1 million for the exciting second stage of construction works at Alkimos College.

This funding will enable the delivery of a student services area, performing arts centre, dance and visual arts studios, plus dedicated music, general and specialist classrooms, and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) classrooms.

Once completed, the new additions will boost the school's capacity to accommodate an extra 700 students.

Alkimos College opened in 2020 with a specialist design and technologies area, general classrooms, science and information technology laboratories, sports hall, canteen and library.

It is focused on providing local students with world-class learning facilities to help them succeed in their secondary education.

The new funding comes on top of the $1 million already provided by the McGowan Labor Government for planning of the Alkimos College's Stage 2 facilities.

The facilities were designed and planned by Perth-based architectural firm T&Z Architects.

Comments attributed to Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
