Western Australians doing their groceries will have the unique opportunity to 'roll up' and get their COVID-19 vaccination as part of the Summer Vax Drive.

The 'Summer Vax Drive' initiative runs until December 19 and means more convenient vaccination clinics and special events are open to help people get the vaccine.

Getting the vaccine to protect themselves, loved ones and their community will help WA reach its 90 per cent vaccination target.

The Kalgoorlie Community Vaccination Clinic also starts Thursday December 2, located at the Curtin University School of Mines Graduate Hall, 50 MacDonald Street, providing vaccinations between 8am and 8pm until Tuesday December 7.

Other special events that will feature pop-up clinics over the coming days include:

WA Health State COVID-19 vaccination clinics continue to operate with no appointment necessary at more than 100 locations across WA. Western Australians can also get vaccinated at GPs, pharmacies, Aboriginal Medical Services and GP respiratory clinics, which are managed by the Commonwealth.

Dates and opening hours vary depending on people's preferred location and people are urged to visit https://rollup.wa.gov.au to find out where they can get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Comments attributed to Premier Mark McGowan:

"People doing the grocery run will also be able to get their COVID-19 vaccine at one of the participating supermarkets from this Thursday.

"It's part of the Summer Vax Drive which is about giving people more convenience and access to the COVID-19 vaccine.

"Thank you to everyone involved in establishing and running with this unique and important initiative to better protect WA from COVID-19.

"A special thanks to these organisations and the staff who are supporting Summer Vax Drive and doing their bit to keep WA safe.

"This will help WA reach its 90 per cent target ahead of border controls easing further in late January/early February."

Comments attributed to Health Minister Roger Cook:

"WA has been making terrific progress with our vaccination program.

"A series of new initiatives has helped to make it even easier for people to get vaccinated. The Summer Vax Drive is an important part of this.

"We are now very close to double dose vaccinating 80 per cent of Western Australians aged 12 and above.

"Recent events around the world on the east coast of Australia reinforce just how vital it is for all Western Australians to get vaccinated if they are eligible.

"COVID-19 is coming so we need to do everything possible to protect each other by getting vaccinated before our safe transition occurs."

Comments attributed to Vaccine Commander Commissioner Chris Dawson:

"I join the Premier in thanking all the supermarkets and organisations for getting behind the Summer Vax Drive.

"The 90 per cent target is in sight and this is a really important initiative to get there.

"I want to thank Western Australians for their community spirit that's shone throughout this pandemic. This is yet another example of how we come together when it matters.

"It's now even more convenient to join the vast majority of Western Australians and get vaccinated."
