- Construction completed on 12 modern apartments for social housing in Duncraig
- Apartments are close to Warwick train station, shops, parks and schools
- McGowan Government is investing $2.1 billion on social housing
Housing Minister John Carey today toured the McGowan Government's most recently completed social housing development, located in Duncraig.
The $2.4 million development includes 12 modern two-bedroom apartments, which will help address the growing demand for singles and couples accommodation.
The apartment complex is part of the McGowan Government's record $875 million injection for social housing in the most recent State Budget.
A number of apartments were going to be sold to the private market, but will now be retained to provide housing to vulnerable Western Australians on our public housing waitlist.
The apartments are among around 500 homes that were going to be sold to the private market, but will now be retained to help provide a boost to social housing.
The apartments are located about 500 metres from the Warwick train station, the Carine Glades Shopping Centre and parks and schools.
The McGowan Government will invest $2.1 billion in social housing over the coming four years, which includes the delivery of 3,300 new social homes, and life-extending refurbishments and maintenance on thousands more.
