    • New Perth CAT bus stops installed along the popular Red and Blue routes
    • Stops now operating at Kings Park, Elizabeth Quay, Northbridge and Matagarup Bridge
    • Red CAT operating hours expanded to 9pm Sunday to Thursday and to midnight on Friday and Saturday
    • New Purple CAT route to service QEII Medical Centre and UWA starting in February

Perth's free CAT bus routes have expanded just in time for Christmas with more than 20 additional stops added along the popular Red and Blue routes.

The Red CAT service, which will now include Matagarup Bridge, will change from last services at 6.50pm (Friday) and 8.45pm (Saturday) to a midnight finish on both nights. It will also finish running at 9pm on Sunday to Thursday nights.

The Blue CAT will now stop at Kings Park, Elizabeth Quay and Northbridge, running every 15 minutes.

From February 2022, the new Purple CAT will operate from Elizabeth Quay Bus Station to the Perth Children's Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital then to the University of Western Australia via Kings Park Road and Thomas Street.

The McGowan Government allocated more than $12 million in the recent State Budget to upgrade and expand the popular service.

Comments attributed to Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:

"Our free CAT buses are a popular service and I am so pleased we have expanded the Red and Blue routes just in time for Christmas and New Year's.

"We've added more than 20 new stops including Perth City highlights such as Kings Park, Northbridge, Elizabeth Quay and Matagarup Bridge.

"Next February the Purple CAT will come into operation - providing free access to people visiting Perth Children's Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the University of WA."

Comments attributed to Perth MLA John Carey:

"The introduction of a night-time service on the Red CAT Bus Service running Friday and Saturday nights to midnight and Sunday to Thursday nights to 9pm is a big win for the east end of our city and local residents.

"This change was first proposed at the Perth City Summit and will make it easier for local city residents and visitors to access restaurants and small bars across the city.

"The extension of the Red CAT Bus Service to Matagarup Bridge will also improve access to East Perth and is a logical extension for this key riverside attraction."
