TAB sale process resumes with new invitation for expressions of interest

    12/10/2021 2:25 PM
    • New sale process commenced following a request from the RWWA Board
    • Invitation for expressions of interest open until November 16, 2021
    • Subject to outcome of sale process, a new wagering operator is expected to be in place by late 2022

The State Government has recommenced the Western Australian TAB sale process to secure the long-term future of the State's racing industry.

The sale process was well progressed prior to the onset of COVID-19, but was subsequently suspended due to the uncertainty caused by the pandemic.

Since the process was first initiated, changes in market conditions have necessitated the need to re-evaluate the most effective model to support Western Australia's racing industry into the future.

At the request of the Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) Board, the State Government has agreed to commence a new sale process with a view to supporting an independently sustainable and competitive industry.

The new process commenced today with the release of an invitation for expressions of interest to the market, with the opportunity for private operators to present their credentials and provide indicative bids.

Should an appropriate arrangement be negotiated which is in the long-term interests of the industry and the State, a new wagering operator is expected to be in place towards the end of 2022.

The racing industry will continue to be engaged and consulted as the process progresses, with RWWA to initiate outreach sessions with stakeholder groups.

A notification regarding the invitation for expressions of interest is available at http://www.tenders.wa.gov.au
