A $2 million advertising campaign begins this weekend to recruit more health professionals to the WA Health system and supports the workforce recruitment campaign underway.

The Belong campaign features a range of healthcare workers in various facilities and settings to capture WA Health's multidisciplinary, collaborative, dynamic working environment.

This new phase of Western Australia's recruitment campaign will run across multiple platforms including television, radio, outdoor, digital and print.

The interstate and overseas advertising is complemented by a focus on the exceptional outdoor lifestyle offered in WA.

The campaign is part of a commitment to invest in a multi-pronged workforce attraction and retention strategy which is part of a $1.9 billion injection by the McGowan Government into health and mental health, as part of the recent State Budget.

Part of the investment includes $71.6 million to employ more doctors, nurses and midwives across the WA health system to address workforce shortages arising from COVID-19.

The campaign aims to appeal to those who share the very special qualities of the professionals featured in the campaign, demonstrating how they might also belong in public healthcare in WA, contributing to the greater good.

Western Australia's current recruitment drive has already seen almost 1,000 new nurses and midwives join the WA Health system since January this year.

This campaign also includes a dedicated refresher program to support enrolled nurses, registered nurses and midwives (with Aphra registration) requiring recency of practice to return to the workforce, and a commitment to employ 1,100 graduate nurses in 2021 and 1,200 graduate nurses in 2022.
