    • The Perth Mint 2022 Australian Bullion Coin program launches today
    • Minted products exported around the world to Germany, USA and Southeast Asia
    • Program sell-out expected, especially during COVID-19

The Perth Mint's 2022 precious metal coin and minted bar program launched today to an international audience of wholesale and retail distributors.

The locally designed products include: Australian Kangaroo gold, silver and platinum bullion coins; Australian Kookaburra and Koala silver bullion coins; and Kangaroo Minted Gold Bars.

As the first international mint to celebrate the 12 animals of the ancient Chinese lunar calendar, the program includes 2022 Year of the Tiger gold, silver and platinum bullion coins.

Since the inception of Gold Corporation in 1987 around 108 million bullion and numismatic coins and bars have been minted and sold worldwide, adding value to 360 tonnes of gold and 5,075 tonnes of silver.

This year The Perth Mint expects continued strong sales with quick sell-outs on the lunar 1oz gold and 1oz silver coins and increased demand for the silver Kookaburra and Koala coins.

The first coins will be available to purchase from Monday September 13 at The Perth Mint in East Perth, by telephoning 1300 201 112 or +61 8 9421 7218 (international), or online from: https://www.perthmintbullion.com/au

Purchasers can also check availability of the latest releases at leading bullion coin dealers.

Comments attributed to Mines and Petroleum Minister Bill Johnston:

"The Perth Mint's precious metal coins and minted bars are highly sought after by investors around the world for their purity, weight and tradability.

"The program, which is manufactured and marketed for the Commonwealth Government of Australia, is a local manufacturing success story with 87 per cent of products produced in 2020/21 exported around the world.

"As Western Australia's third largest exporter, and Australia's largest exporter to Germany, The Perth Mint's bullion program adds value to Australian metals and plays a part in promoting our State to the world."

Comments attributed to The Perth Mint CEO Richard Hayes:

"As Australia's largest and only fully accredited precious metals enterprise, The Perth Mint continually seeks opportunities to take Australian precious metals to the world.

"As global markets sought safe-haven investments during COVID, The Perth Mint has experienced increased demand for our high-quality products, and we expect this demand to continue with the 2022 Bullion program."
