    • $87.6 million Fremantle Police Complex to be built in the heart of the port city
    • McGowan Government delivering better policing services for the community

The McGowan Government has allocated an additional $35 million in this year's State Budget towards the construction of the Fremantle Police Complex.

The additional funding is on top of $52.6 million already allocated to the project and follows the completion of a project definition plan.

The revised project incorporates a secure basement car park and an increase in the number of building levels, to ensure the facility can cater for future growth.

The McGowan Government has funded and is delivering the biggest boost to police numbers in the State's history - an additional 950 police officers, representing a massive 15 per cent expansion in the size of the WA Police Force.

The project's revised scope will ensure the increased officers deployed to the district are accommodated appropriately.

The state-of-the-art Fremantle Police Complex is being built on the former Stan Reilly Reserve site on South Terrace near the corner of Parry Street.

Comments attributed to Police Minister Paul Papalia:

"The new Fremantle Police Complex will provide contemporary operational and custodial facilities for community and police safety.

"It's part of the McGowan Government's record investment in police and community safety.

"Not only are we putting more police on the streets, but we are ensuring they have adequate facilities for them to do their jobs effectively.

"The additional money in this year's Budget will ensure the Fremantle Police Complex meets the operational needs of the Police Force and the needs of the community for many years to come."

Comments attributed to Fremantle MLA Simone McGurk:

"This is a fantastic result for Fremantle. A new state-of-the-art police complex, plus the extra officers, will significantly benefit local residents and businesses.

"Since the initial announcement last year, WA Police has worked closely with the City of Fremantle to maximise opportunities and ensure access is still available to meet current and future needs of South Fremantle oval."
