Exciting new chapter for Midland’s historic heart

    7/07/2021 12:00 PM

    • Heritage building to host next chapter of growth for Midland
    • Two large strata units now available within historic Railway Workshops

Offers are now invited for two strata units at the historic Railway Workshops, as the next exciting stage of the Midland rejuvenation begins.

DevelopmentWA is seeking offers for the units, located within Workshop 1 of the heritage‑listed Midland Railway Workshops, with the potential for internal development up to two-storeys.

Strata unit 2 is 5,185sqm and strata unit 3 is 3,565sqm with frontages to Yelverton Drive, Centennial Place, Main Gate and Woodmill Lane.

The Railway Workshops precinct is at the heart of a new urban village in Midland and is surrounded by residential and commercial developments and established medical and education facilities.

The site enjoys easy access to Centrepoint Shopping Centre and Midland City Centre, and is located next to Railway Square which features vibrant cafes, open green spaces and public art.

It is also located close to the existing Midland Station, as well as the proposed new station being delivered as part of the McGowan Government's METRONET program.

The relocation of the station will provide residents, workers and visitors with better access to shopping, medical facilities including Midland Hospital and Curtin University's Midland campus.

Offers for the strata units are now invited, with offers closing at 2pm WST, Thursday August 5, 2021. For more information visit http://www.developmentwa.com.au/midland

Comments attributed to Lands Minister Dr Tony Buti:

"This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the continued renewal and rejuvenation of Midland.

"This process began two decades ago and continues to transform this important metropolitan centre.

"As part of this urban renewal program, the Railway Workshops precinct is once again becoming the heart of the Midland community with apartments, cafes, public spaces and state of the art medical facilities."

Comments attributed to Heritage Minister David Templeman:

"The iconic Railway Workshops were the driving economic force in Midland and at the heart of work and community life in that area for more than 80 years.

"The work being done to repurpose and restore these buildings will see the former Midland Workshops become an economic hub once again, with a range of new businesses enabled to trade in a setting that celebrates the area's heritage and history."
