Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today officially opened $10 million building upgrades at Darling Range Sports College in Forrestfield.

Works include new buildings for materials technology and food technology classes and an industry standard restaurant/café for students.

Existing science laboratories were also modernised as part of the upgrades to create a STEM hub to inspire critical and creative thinking.

Built by Western Australian business Crothers Construction, the project supported local jobs and was a key McGowan Government election commitment.

The upgrades will benefit the academic excellence and vocational training programs currently offered at the acclaimed sporting college.

An additional benefit of the new STEM hub will be the International Lego League competition for all regional primary and secondary schools to be held there in November.

Comments attributed to Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

"These modern upgrades will add to the outstanding facilities at the college and provide students with greater opportunities as they pursue VET qualifications such as Hospitality, Automotive and Engineering certificates.

"Students will be using industry standard buildings and equipment for their studies in technologies."

Comments attributed to Forrestfield MLA Stephen Price:
