    McGowan Government opens new primary school in Perth’s south

    • First stage of $19.9 million Yarralinka Primary School in Southern River officially opened
    • Facilities initially open for students in kindergarten and pre-primary
    • Stage 2 currently in design phase and will be completed for the 2023 school year

    Yarralinka Primary School in Southern River was officially opened by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery this morning.

     

    Kindergarten and pre-primary students are the first students to learn in the modern new school.

     

    The $7.15 million stage 1 facilities include an administration block, a teaching block with five classrooms for kindergarten and pre-primary students, library block, staff room, nature playground and two car parks.

     

    The $12.75 million second stage of construction - currently in the design phase - will include a covered assembly area, canteen and music room, three general teaching blocks, one general teaching block with art and craft room, hard courts, oval, and additional parking for staff and parents.

     

    Stage 2 will be completed for the 2023 school year, providing for students up to Year 6.

     

    Stage 1 of the school was built by Universal Constructions.

     

    The new school was a 2017 election commitment by the McGowan Labor Government.
