    • Construction underway for new state-of-the-art emergency services centre in Tom Price
    • The Tom Price State Emergency Service and Bush Fire Brigade will be co-located at the facility, due to be completed next year
    • Project to be delivered by local builder Pindan, creating local jobs

Emergency Services Minister Reece Whitby and Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Darren Klemm today turned the first sod at the new $4.05 million Tom Price Emergency Services Centre.

The state-of-the-art facility will feature five vehicle bays, training facilities and offices for both the State Emergency Service (SES) and Bush Fire Brigade, as well as accommodating the Tom Price Emergency Services Cadet Corp when required.

The new centre will enable and encourage collaboration and co-ordination between the town's emergency services personnel before, during and after incidents.

The facility has been funded through a $1.7 million contribution from the State Government's Emergency Services Levy, an additional $1.5 million from Rio Tinto and $850,000 from the Shire of Ashburton.

The contract to build the new centre has been awarded to Western Australian builder Pindan and will help to stimulate the local economy with opportunities for businesses to provide their services during construction, creating local jobs.

The centre is expected to be completed and operational in March 2022.

Comments attributed to Emergency Services Minister Reece Whitby:

"The Tom Price Emergency Services Centre has been designed to meet the needs of firefighters and SES volunteers who respond to emergencies such as bushfire, flood, cyclone, road crash rescue and land search and rescue.

"The State Government is committed to investing in quality infrastructure to better equip those tirelessly working on the front line and behind the scenes to selflessly protect their local communities.

"This project will also create local jobs and support the local economy, with WA builder Pindan to construct the facility."
