Funding available to reduce litter in WA

    18/04/2021 10:00 AM
    • Community litter grants up to $10,000 available for major initiatives or regional projects
    • Grants up to $5,000 available for local area projects

Applications are now open for the Keep Australia Beautiful Council (KABC) 2021 Community Litter Grants program.

Community groups, schools, small to medium-sized enterprises, and local governments can apply for grants of up to $10,000 for major initiatives or regional projects, or $5,000 for local area projects.

The grants, provided by KABC, support projects and initiatives that focus on changing littering behaviour.

Successful projects will help reduce litter at events, sporting and recreation venues, roadsides, waterways, and shopping and commercial precincts. They will also target the incorrect disposal of cigarette butts and takeaway food containers.

Projects funded through the previous round included reusable litter collection bags in Hopetoun, signage and reusable bags in Exmouth, litter video messages for the Shire of Capel and resources for SUP Tonic's paddle board river clean-ups in Bassendean.

Applications for Community Litter Grants close on May 28, 2021.

Successful applicants will be announced during Keep Australia Beautiful Week, August 16-22, 2021. For application guidelines and more information on the grants program, visit http://www.kabc.wa.gov.au/resources/community-litter-grants
