    • The WA Government has executed arrangements to support the Waitsia Gas Project Stage 2 proceeding to construction
    • The Domestic Gas Commitment Agreement and Project Development Deed are subject to the project's environmental approvals
    • Project to create jobs, royalties and economic stimulus for the Mid-West region and State

The WA Government has today executed agreements to secure domestic gas arrangements, local industry participation and community development benefits for the Waitsia Gas Project Stage 2.

The arrangements will allow the project to proceed to construction once environmental approvals are granted and other associated government approvals are in place.

The Waitsia project is set to create 200 jobs during construction and provide royalties and economic stimulus for the Mid-West region and the State.

The 250 terajoule per day domestic gas facility will be the first large-scale gas plant built in the highly prospective Perth Basin.

The Waitsia Joint Venture will fill available capacity at the North West Shelf LNG facility for a time, with government approval to export 7.5 million tonnes of gas until the end of 2028.

The project will deliver large volumes of gas into the WA market in support of new energy-intensive industry development in the State.

Consistent with the WA Domestic Gas Policy, up until 2028 the Waitsia Joint Venture will make gas equivalent of 15 per cent of its LNG exports available to the domestic market.

From 2029, all remaining Waitsia reserves will be made available to the domestic market.

The Domestic Gas Commitment Agreement and information about the Project Development Deed will be available on the wa.gov.au website in the new year.
