- Fortec Australia Pty Ltd awarded tender for new suspension bridge
- Construction due to start in early 2021
Plans for a new $1.285 million suspension bridge in Collie are underway with the tender being awarded for the design and construction of the project.
The tender has been awarded to Fortec Australia Pty Ltd, with the design phase of the project currently underway.
The bridge will cater to pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair users, offering stunning views of the Collie River Valley.
In a competitive tender application process, Fortec Australia Pty Ltd submitted an innovative stress ribbon design for the bridge as well as reducing the footprint of the project by removing the need for support towers.
The 100-metre bridge, located on Flora Road, will be linked by several trails leading to a lookout over the Collie River.
It is part of the McGowan Government's $10 million Collie Adventure Trails initiative.
