- Fee relief to be provided to more than 500 retailers totalling $3.9 million
- Relief extended until March 15, 2021 - after the extension of the emergency period
- Provides support to WA businesses during ongoing economic uncertainty
- Further to $159 million Lotterywest COVID-19 Relief Fund to support those in need
The McGowan Government has extended terminal and service fee relief to more than 500 Lotterywest retailers across Western Australia totalling an additional $1.8 million.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing economic uncertainty, the extension will bring the total Lotterywest retailer fee relief to $3.9 million.
The fee relief was first announced in March 2020 for an initial period of six months following the State Government's amendments to the Lotteries Commission Act 1990. It formed part of the WA Recovery Plan and the State's response to the COVID-19 emergency period.
Support for Lotterywest retailers at that time also included a $15 million Retailer Incentive Package, which provided each outlet with $30,000 over the three months to June 2020.
In addition to fee relief, the extension also means the Lotterywest COVID-19 Relief Fund, established in March 2020, can continue to support community organisations most impacted by COVID-19.
To date, the COVID-19 Relief Fund has delivered more than $78 million to 510 approved grants across WA.
Both extensions will be until March 15, 2021.
Comments attributed to Premier Mark McGowan:
"Lotterywest retailers play a significant role on the frontline selling lottery games so that vital funds can be raised for the WA community.
"The State Government is committed to supporting these businesses and the wider community during these challenging and uncertain times.
"The decision to extend fee relief support to Lotterywest retailers and to continue the COVID 19 Relief Fund, will ensure Lotterywest can continue to assist in the State's recovery."
