    • McGowan Government grants program to boost technology and innovation capabilities for Western Australian Community Resource Network across WA
    • Initiative will support improved and expanded service delivery across rural and regional communities

A $600,000 McGowan Government grants program will help Community Resource Centres (CRCs) across Western Australia invest in technology and innovation to boost services delivered to their regional and rural communities.

More than 100 CRCs operate across Western Australia as not-for-profit organisations, independently owned and operated by their local communities to provide a range of community-based services and information.

Grants of up to $10,000 are now available through the CRC Technology and Innovation Grant program on a competitive basis to support technology upgrades or innovations which will improve or expand ongoing service delivery.

The grants program is administered by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and are open until close of business on December 21, 2020. Eligible CRCs will be contacted directly by DPIRD and provided with application information.

Comments attributed to Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

"CRCs provide an important and valued service to many rural and regional communities.

"The challenges and uncertainties associated with COVID-19 have placed high demands on CRCs to assist their local communities.

"Many CRCs are providing access to government services and information including how to access relief payments or services, giving assistance to vulnerable community members and in some instances co-ordinating information about local jobs and workforce requirements.

"This program will provide vital support towards upgrades to infrastructure or innovations which allow these organisations to implement new or improved ways of best servicing the needs of their local community."
