    • Western Power Pinjarra depot opens, consolidating Waroona and Mandurah depots

Energy Minister Bill Johnston today officially opened Western Power's $15 million Pinjarra depot on Munday Avenue.

The new depot combines the Mandurah and Waroona depots, and will enhance the co-ordination and service reach for customers in the Peel region.

The purpose-built facility will provide enhanced customer response times and improve employee safety for its 60 staff.

One of the depot's impressive features includes a large-scale original artwork by Bindjareb elder Gloria Kearing, which depicts native frogs and western long-necked tortoises.

Part of Western Power's depot modernisation program, the Pinjarra depot will help meet the growing needs of its customers' energy needs in the region.

Comments attributed to Energy Minister Bill Johnston:

"Congratulations to Western Power who continue to improve and enhance its service and connections for Western Australians.

"Peel's new energy hub will improve response times during storm and fire emergencies by bolstering access to major transport infrastructure.

"It underlines the McGowan Government's commitment to ensuring critical services for homes and businesses in the Peel region are met.

"As a key player in the State's energy transformation strategy it's critical that Western Power has the right buildings, equipment and employees to continue to deliver essential services."

Comments attributed to Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke:

"The Pinjarra depot will be staffed by women and men from our community who understand the local landscape and will provide a critical service to the Peel region and surrounds.

"The magnificent artwork outside the depot is a wonderful celebration of the traditional landowner's connection to the land and is on display for our entire community to enjoy."
