    • State Library to host the free Disrupted Festival of Ideas on Saturday, November 7
    • The theme for the festival is A Better World
    • Stan Grant will headline 40 plus speakers and panellists
    • Amazing light and sound projection on the State Library building, children's activities and a WA supergroup playing WA hits

The free Disrupted Festival of Ideas will take place at the State Library of Western Australia on Saturday, November 7, 2020 in the Perth Cultural Centre.

The theme of the festival is A Better World, with more than 40 speakers featuring in a program of events, panels and conversations that will inspire discussion, provoke ideas and encourage positive change. Keynote speaker Stan Grant will be live streamed in from a studio in Sydney to examine the theme of A Better World and to answer audience questions.

In addition to talks and panels, the festival will be a free day out for the whole family, with a variety of fun and thought-provoking children's activities.

Disrupted will begin at 10am and continue into the early evening. As the sun goes down, the Perth Cultural Centre amphitheatre will be turned into a virtual campfire as Ron Bradfield Jnr, a saltwater man of the Bardi people, will present a fireside yarn that draws on his personal experiences to examine how Australians today see and judge others.

In addition, there will be a spectacular 30-minute sound and light projection on the façade of the State Library of Western Australia's building.

This will be followed by the Disrupted supergroup playing covers of Western Australian hits from Johnny Young (he will be performing live) to the works of The Triffids, The Stems, Dave Warner and Tame Impala.

Comments attributed to Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

"This year, more than any year, a festival called Disrupted is right for the times.

"As Culture and the Arts Minister, I am delighted that this festival will showcase WA talent across the arts.

"I am also very happy that this festival has been supported by the Art Gallery of WA, which will be opening up its galleries and offering special tours. PICA has also joined the party and will be open with a new exhibition.

"This is a free event for all the family, so I encourage you to get down to Perth Cultural Centre on November 7, 2020 to be Disrupted."
