    • Part of $5.5 billion WA Recovery Plan to guide WA through COVID-19 recovery
    • Centre will deliver training in commercial cookery, tourism and events management
    • Construction of new centre anticipated to start in May 2021

Peter Hunt Architect has been selected to design a new $9.17 million hospitality and tourism training centre at South Metropolitan TAFE's (SM TAFE) Mandurah campus.

The state-of-the-art facility will be used to deliver training in commercial cookery, tourism and events management, providing career pathways for aspiring chefs, event managers, baristas and front of house staff in the Peel region.

The project will increase student capacity for several half price courses and free short courses available at the Mandurah campus as part of the Western Australian Government's Lower fees, local skills initiative.

The new hospitality and tourism training centre for Mandurah was announced in July 2020 as part of the WA Recovery Plan, which will see a record $167.4 million invested in upgrades to essential infrastructure across WA's five TAFE colleges.

Peter Hunt Architect has worked on several significant projects including the refurbishment of Beatty Park Leisure Centre in North Perth and the Perth Police Complex in Northbridge.

The Mandurah TAFE project was announced in July as part of the largest TAFE capital works program in WA history, a record $167.4 million investment to fund upgrades to essential infrastructure across the State's TAFE colleges.

Site analysis at Mandurah TAFE is already underway with construction anticipated to start in May 2021.
