- $159 million Lotterywest COVID-19 Relief Fund extended so Lotterywest can continue to support those most in need
- Fund extended until March 2021
- $67 million already delivered to the community
The State Government is extending its Lotterywest COVID-19 Relief Fund to ensure continued support for community groups impacted by COVID-19.
The fund was created in March to enable all available Lotterywest proceeds to be directed to crisis and emergency relief and not-for-profit community organisations affected by the pandemic.
To date, it has delivered $67 million in grants to the Western Australian community.
This includes $10 million in grants specifically targeted towards community sports and arts programs, $11.2 million to community groups which support those experiencing hardship, and $26.3 million for organisations to address the financial impact of cancelled events, and support resilience.
The extension of the Lotteries Commission Amendment (COVID-19 Response) Act 2020 has been granted until March 15, 2021.
All grants funded under the Lotterywest COVID-19 Relief Fund are reported on Lotterywest's website.
More information about grants and the application process is available at http://www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au
Comments attributed to Premier Mark McGowan:
"These are difficult times for our community and we need to respond creatively to the challenges created by the pandemic.
"Lotterywest has always been there for Western Australians.
"This relief fund has enabled Lotterywest to reprioritise its community grants to ensure proceeds can be put to the kind of use that our community really needs.
"There's nothing more important in our community than supporting those who have been impacted by COVID-19 and ensuring Western Australia is in a position to recover, stronger than ever.
"The extension of the COVID-19 Relief Fund will ensure Lotterywest can continue to assist the WA community to respond to the immediate impacts of the pandemic, and support the State's recovery."
