Donnybrook is set for a big upgrade of its sport facilities as part of the McGowan Government's WA Recovery Plan.

A total of $6 million is being invested by the McGowan Government towards the $12.75 million redevelopment of the Donnybrook and Districts Sporting and Recreation Precinct.

The project seeks to co-locate sport and recreation clubs from across Donnybrook into one sustainable facility.

The new facility will cater to a wide range of sports including football, tennis, netball, hockey and basketball.

The master plan developments will include infrastructure works to service all sporting user groups including, amongst many others, the construction of a new multipurpose sports club room, improved oval lighting and a new indoor multipurpose court.

The historic plan will benefit a range of projects throughout the State and is expected to create a pipeline of local jobs, with local small businesses and contractors also set to benefit.

Comments attributed to Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:

"Donnybrook has a strong sporting tradition - this redevelopment of its sporting precinct will consolidate sports like footy, tennis, netball, hockey and basketball into one area in order to continue that tradition.

"By bringing all these groups together we will help encourage and foster community pride in its sporting heritage and hopefully encourage a few locals to be involved in new sports.

"This significant investment, as part of the McGowan Government's WA Recovery Plan, will help boost the region's social and economic recovery while providing much-needed facility upgrades at the same time."
