    • Dalyellup community to benefit from new multipurpose community and youth centre
    • Project forms second stage of a Dalyellup District Centre development
    • Part of unprecedented $300 million investment in sport and community infrastructure through WA Recovery Plan

The Dalyellup community is set to benefit from $8 million in State Government funding to build a multipurpose community and youth centre, as part of the WA Recovery Plan.

The proposed scope of the project includes components such as a multifunctional library and technology hub, a youth space including a digital hub space and media facilities, small performance spaces, activity and business start-up rooms, and a seniors' citizens club space.

The project will provide significant social and economic benefits to local residents, as well as supporting the regional economy and creating about 25 full-time construction jobs throughout the design and construction phases.

The $8 million State Government funding contribution has fast tracked the project bringing it forward by up to five years. Pending further design work it is expected the facility could be delivered in 2023-24.

The project forms the second stage of a wider Dalyellup District Centre development that includes a skate park close to Bussell Highway.

The need for the centre was reinforced through the Dalyellup Community Consultation (Bank of IDEAS, October 2018), which identified that further community infrastructure was required to encourage community connection and support the delivery of services.

The Shire of Capel will undertake community consultation as part of the concept design stage of the project.

Comments attributed to Premier Mark McGowan:

"Dalyellup is one of the State's fast-growing communities, and a facility such as this is much needed.

"This project will provide an important community hub for young people and community groups in the district, with the inclusion of a digital media hub set to provide expansive commercial opportunities.

"The State Government's investment in the project through the WA Recovery Plan will deliver an incredible facility to the Dalyellup community - while generating local economic and employment opportunities in the process."

Comments attributed to Bunbury MLA Don Punch:

"Community members from Dalyellup consistently tell me there is a need for more facilities to support community activities and services for the more than 9,000 people who call Dalyellup home, and this project will address those needs.

"This project will see one of the most innovative and exciting youth spaces in regional WA built in Dalyellup that will bring great diversity to the recreation options available to young people.

"The consultation process will refine exactly how this facility will look and function, and I am really looking forward to hearing the community's input to make this an outstanding space that will become the centre of the fast growing Dalyellup community."
