    6/07/2020 8:30 AM
    • Scitech's Science Centre at City West to re-open today after three months
    • Visitors are encouraged to book online
    • Scitech is a key partner in implementing the McGowan Government's STEM Strategy

Scitech's Science Centre will re-open today, following its closure in March due to COVID-19.

In accordance with Phase-4 COVID-19 restrictions, Scitech will be initially operating under a reduced visitor capacity, in line with the two square metre rule.

To manage attendance, online bookings are highly encouraged and will be given priority entry.

To ensure the health and safety of staff and visitors, Scitech has implemented enhanced cleaning procedures. Visitors to Scitech will also be required to follow physical distancing requirements.

Since its establishment in 1988, Scitech has been inspiring young Western Australians to take an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Scitech receives $8.6 million in funding per year from the State Government and is a key partner in implementing the McGowan Government's STEM skills strategy.

Over the past few months while the Science Centre has been closed, Scitech has continued to deliver programs in schools and has engaged thousands of West Australians over its web and social media platforms.

Comments attributed to Science Minister Dave Kelly:

"The McGowan Government is committed to ensuring all Western Australians have the opportunity to develop STEM skills and participate in the jobs of the future.

"Scitech plays such an important role in inspiring young people to take an interest in STEM.

"I'm thrilled that Scitech is reopening just in time to kick-start the school holidays."
