    • Stage two of construction announced for Ridge View Secondary College in Baldivis
    • New facilities to cost close to $30 million and create local jobs
    • Bateman Architects appointed to lead the design of stage two

Premier Mark McGowan and Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery have today revealed plans for stage two of construction at Ridge View Secondary College.

The second stage of construction is expected to cost $29.88 million and will increase the college's capacity to accommodate 1,450 students.

Already very popular for families in Baldivis, the new facilities will enhance the learning opportunities for students, including a performing arts centre, music rooms, dance studio, visual arts area and state-of-the-art media classrooms.

In addition, the build will also include general classrooms, multipurpose playing courts, landscaped areas and extra parking.

The impressive first stage of the college - worth $41.5 million - opened at the start of 2019 with 170 Year 7 students.

Now in its second year, there are 165 students enrolled in Year 7 and 185 students in Year 8, with the foundation cohort to reach Year 12 by 2024.

Bateman Architects has been appointed to lead the design of the multimillion dollar stage two construction which will commence in April 2021. The new facilities are expected to be completed by the start of the 2023 school year.

The McGowan Government is investing more than $450 million in 2019-20 to build new WA public schools and upgrade existing facilities across the State, creating jobs for Western Australians and ensuring students have access to modern education facilities.

Comments attributed to Premier Mark McGowan:

"This is another example of my Government's commitment to delivering high-quality education facilities across Perth's growing suburbs.

"Baldivis is a booming area, and it's important that local schools keep up with demand.

"Stage two will ensure Ridge View Secondary College can continue to provide an outstanding learning environment for local kids, while creating jobs during construction."

Comments attributed to Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

"It's almost been a year and a half since the official opening of the impressive Ridge View Secondary College in Baldivis.
