    • Record sales enquiries follows McGowan Government housing stimulus package
    • New public parklands will enhance quality of life for residents and the community
    • Development will support local jobs and economy

Lot sales will open soon for stage one of the East Green housing development in Greenwood, following the completion of a public park and civil works.

East Green has seen record interest from prospective buyers following the announcement of the McGowan Government's $125 million Building Bonus which offers incentives to build new homes.

In the first three weeks of June, the estate's sales office had received 287 enquiries - almost double the number for May.

The Department of Communities and Frasers Property Australia are jointly developing the estate and will be releasing the first 27 lots for sale in July.

The department has a strong history of collaborating with experienced developers, such as Frasers Property, to create connected communities with access to jobs, services and amenities that improve social wellbeing.

The newly completed public parkland at East Green is designed to encourage interaction and activity throughout the estate, and enhance quality of life for future residents and the broader Greenwood community.

Parkland makes up 25 per cent of the estate - more than double the amount required by law. A pedestrian path connects active exercise spaces, a barbecue station, a playground and picnic areas.

East Green has retained more than 100 existing native trees, integrating a rich mix of mature native plants into the design of the development.

Additionally, about 60 grass trees were retained and will be introduced to East Green, along with other trees, during the course of the development.

Comments attributed to Housing Minister Peter Tinley:

"The completion of the parkland and civil works for the first stage at East Green could not have come at a better time.

"The first sales release is expected to sell very quickly on the back of our Government's recently announced Building Bonus.

"Projects like East Green provide much needed work for Perth tradies and support jobs in WA's second-biggest employment sector - the housing construction industry.

"They help to create diverse residential communities in existing urban zones, close to where people live, work and play."

Comments attributed to Kingsley MLA Jessica Stojkovski:

"The diversity of housing in East Green will provide a wide range of alternative housing opportunities for future residents.

"There will be options for older people wanting to downsize in their local community, young people wanting to buy a home close to where they grew up, and lower income families wanting better access to services and work."
