- Enhancements to online reporting for increased transparency
- Improved patient-centred reporting
- Delivery of another McGowan Government election commitment
The performance of the Western Australian health system is now more transparent with the introduction of a new online reporting dashboard.
Using a patient-centred approach, key health information is now easier to access and navigate, with emergency department and elective surgery performance information provided in a more interactive, user-friendly format.
Patients now also have access to information relating to hospital inpatient services, with the launch of a new monthly Admitted Patient Activity Summary dashboard. The information can be searched by hospital and medical speciality. This dashboard includes information on admissions, bed days, average length of stay and day of admission and discharge.
The McGowan Government is committed to ensuring that information about the performance of our public-funded hospitals is accessible to members of the public.
The improved performance reporting includes a new transfer of care time to measure patient handover from ambulance crews to hospital staff. This aligns WA with other States to create better performance benchmarking opportunities.
These performance reporting measures will be continually reviewed, with additional dashboards and enhancements to come online in 2020.
Comments attributed to Health Minister Roger Cook:
"I am pleased to see the delivery of these new dashboards which mark the fulfilment of yet another McGowan Government election commitment and provide enhanced information to the WA public.
"These improvements will ensure Western Australians will be able to more readily access information about emergency department waiting times, elective surgery performance and inpatient activity."
