Modern new specialist facilities at Carnarvon Community College are officially open, marking the end of a major construction project that united primary and secondary students in Carnarvon for the first time.

Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery visited the school today to open the $26.55 million third and final stage of the facilities for the school's 459 students.

Students are now learning in specialist classrooms for science, digital technology, material technology, home economics, hospitality, performing arts and physical education. There are also nine new general classrooms for secondary students.

Existing buildings have also been refurbished for a new secondary administration building as well as for special programs including Clontarf and the Shooting Stars netball program. There is also a new sports oval, hard courts and car park.

Construction concluded in mid-2019. More than 20 local subcontractors were involved in the third stage, in turn supporting the local economy and job creation.
