Western Australia's active ageing movement has been given a boost - with the State Government increasing funding for the Seniors Recreation Council's Healthy Ageing Through Activity programs.

The not-for-profit Seniors Recreation Council of WA Inc. (SRCWA) delivers numerous programs and services to encourage older Western Australians to be more physically, socially and mentally active.

Sport and Recreation and Seniors and Ageing Minister Mick Murray today visited the Council's flagship yearly Have a Go Day event at Burswood Park to deliver $40,000 in extra funding for its programs.

The Council holds events and programs throughout the State - including the LiveLighter Aged Care Games, Pole Walking presentations, and the annual SRCWA Ball.

It also conducts Tech Savvy Seniors sessions around Western Australia to help older people use modern technology and enjoy the social and emotional benefits of connecting online.
