    • $656,034 allocated for maintenance works at Margaret River Senior High School
    • Part of $200 million package to address key maintenance needs at WA public schools
    • Schools encouraged to deliver works through Government's 'Direct to Market' initiative
    • $30 million redevelopment of high school on track for completion for 2020 school year

The McGowan Government has allocated more than $650,000 to Margaret River Senior High School for general maintenance, structural repairs and to upgrade design and technology workshops.

The funding is part of a major school infrastructure package, which will see all 789 public schools across Western Australia receive improvements. Every public school will share in $35 million to address maintenance items or identified minor works listed in Building Condition Assessment reports.

Schools will be encouraged to use local contractors to deliver these works through the State Government's 'Direct to Market' initiative which gives schools the ability to engage local contractors directly, cutting unnecessary red tape.

The remaining $165 million of funding is allocated to schools for other targeted maintenance works, upgrades or refurbishments such as classroom upgrades, roof replacements, installation of solar panels and repairs to playing surfaces.

Margaret River Senior High School is also undergoing a $30 million redevelopment which is on track to be completed for the new school year.

The redevelopment includes a new classroom block, an extension to the science block, new sports hall and fitness centre, refurbishment to the administration block, new farm facilities and relocation of hard courts.
