- New undercover area opened at Caversham Primary School
- Early childhood classroom building completed at Ballajura Primary School
- McGowan Government election commitments delivered
Education Minister Sue Ellery and West Swan MLA Rita Saffioti visited Caversham Primary School to open its new $1 million undercover area today.
The completed project also features a sports storage area and gardening facilities.
The school, which has 524 students, first opened in 1904 in a different location, moving to its current site at the southern end of the Swan Valley in 1988.
In nearby Ballajura, a $3.2 million new early childhood classroom building and landscaping project has been completed and is due to be handed over to the school late this month.
The project was designed by Paterson Group Architects and built by BE Projects (WA) Pty Ltd. It includes an early childhood classroom building, a storage shed, 15 new car parking bays and landscaping. New playground equipment will be installed in the coming weeks.
Students will begin learning in the new facilities from Term 4.
The school will receive a science laboratory later this year, under the State Government's program to deliver 200 of the specialist rooms in primary schools around Western Australia.
The McGowan Government is investing $452.8 million in 2019-20 to improve infrastructure in Western Australian public schools and create jobs.
Comments attributed to Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
"These important upgrades for local public primary schools are a clear demonstration of the McGowan Government's commitment to creating quality facilities for students.
"Revitalising facilities at existing public schools means students can access great learning opportunities in their local schools."
Comments attributed to West Swan MLA Rita Saffioti:
"I have visited both of these schools recently and the undercover area has already been used and is a great place for the school children.
"Ballajura Primary School's furniture arrived last week and the state of the art classroom is simply fantastic.
"I am proud to deliver these election commitments and I look forward to working with both schools in the future."
