- New community facility for Preston Beach
- Upgraded facilities include increased bookable office space, greater capacity for events and fire evacuation as well as access for people with disability
A new and improved community centre will provide a hub for local business and community groups in Preston Beach.
Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke officially opened the new Preston Beach Community Centre today on behalf of Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan.
The McGowan Government invested $275,000 into the facility with a further $522,453 invested by project partners Lotterywest, the Federal Government's Building Better Regions, Shire of Waroona and Alcoa.
Preston Beach currently has about 250 permanent residents, increasing to as many as 2,000 day visitors during the summer months.
The project has provided the Preston Beach community with a new facility with expanded floor space and additional toilets, kitchen facilities and office space.
The new centre will provide a venue for meetings and events, office space for community members and visiting services, as well as functioning as a critical evacuation centre during fire emergencies.
