- Oryx Communities commences construction of innovative new multigenerational community at Claremont on the Park

Construction work has commenced on an innovative new aged care centre at LandCorp's Claremont on the Park redevelopment, with Western Australian premium aged care provider Oryx Communities today breaking ground on the project.
The centre, which will take shape on Lot 506 on the corner of Graylands Road and Shenton Road in Claremont, will include a Residential Aged Care Facility to provide care for up to 120 residents.
It will also provide respite care to meet temporary accommodation needs, as well as a Memory Support Day Centre to provide daytime dementia care and support.
Two and three-bedroom serviced apartments provide the option for seniors to live in a home environment, and also provide the flexibility to ensure they do not have to move, even if their care levels increase.
A further innovation is the inclusion of an on-site intergenerational childcare facility for more than 100 children, who will have the opportunity to interact, engage and learn from the senior residents.
Intergenerational care has been shown to provide significant benefits for both children and seniors.
The Queenslea is being constructed by Multiplex, and is expected to be completed in 2021.
Claremont on the Park is helping reconnect Claremont by bridging the railway line, and providing diverse accommodation options with more than 750 new homes. The Queenslea is being constructed on a site which was specifically dedicated for the development of aged care and seniors' services.
The development is well located, adjoining Claremont Oval - and is in easy walking distance of the Claremont town centre, Claremont train station and surrounding community amenities.
Fast-tracking the availability of State-owned land and property for aged care facilities is a McGowan Government priority, supported by a dedicated working group.
This has opened up more than 30 new aged care development opportunities through land transfers, rezonings, development approvals, and State Government land projects. Together these developments are expected to create at least 1,500 new aged care beds over coming years.
