Veterans Issues Minister Peter Tinley will address the Western Australian branch of the Returned and Services League (RSLWA) at its 103rd State Congress to be held at the Crown Towers in Burswood tomorrow (June 15).

The event will bring together members of RSL sub-branches from across WA to promote the RSLWA's achievements during the past financial year, and facilitate collaboration and planning for the future.

Hundreds of RSLWA members are expected to attend the State Congress which will be followed by the Help Our Heroes Charity Ball in the evening.

Sub-branches will be recognised for their work in the RSL and the local community in the annual trophy competitions at the State Congress event, and certificates will be presented to those branches celebrating 100 years of operation.

Comments attributed to Veterans Issues Minister Peter Tinley:

"The RSL was founded in 1916 to provide connections and support Australian war veterans and their families.

"This year marks the 103rd RSLWA State Congress and offers members from all sub-branches across the State the opportunity to meet, refresh their networks and connections and work towards a better future together.

"There is an enduring community connection with veterans and their service to Australia, and much of that can be attributed to the RSLWA's ongoing efforts to involve the community in various commemorative activities."
