The WA Young Achiever Awards, supported by the State Government and run by Awards Australia, recognise and reward young people, up to 29 years old, who make outstanding contributions in their chosen fields of endeavour and their community.

The finalists are recognised in nine categories including Sports, Community Service and Volunteering, Agriculture, Online Achievement, Leadership, Innovation, Environment and Sustainability, Regional Service and Youth Group Achievement.

The overall WA Young Achiever of the Year is selected from the category winners.

Comments attributed to Youth Minister Peter Tinley:

"The example they set to their peers is important, as is the contribution they have made to their communities and the contribution that we all hope they will continue to make.

"Young Western Australians have enormous potential to bring about positive change and it is our responsibility to support and encourage young people to reach their potential.

"I look forward to seeing how our future is shaped and influenced by young Western Australians and I urge all young people to pursue their dreams and accomplish their goals."
