- International Firefighters' Day recognises the sacrifice of firefighters who lost their lives protecting the community
- Memorial service to be held tomorrow at the Firefighters' Memorial Grove in Kings Park
As part of International Firefighters' Day, Western Australia's fallen firefighters will be honoured at a memorial service at Kings Park tomorrow (May 5).
The service recognises the dedication and commitment of career and volunteer firefighters who devoted their lives to keeping the community safe.
Western Australia's vast conditions require our 27,000 firefighters to respond to a variety of emergencies including bushfires, structure fires, car crashes, urban search and rescue and hazmat incidents.
Comments attributed to Emergency Services Minister Francis Logan:
"Tomorrow's memorial service provides us with an opportunity to pause and remember those firefighters who lost their lives while serving their community.
"Their noble acts of bravery will never be forgotten by the family members and comrades they leave behind.
"We also acknowledge the career and volunteer firefighters who continue to serve and respond to emergencies around the clock, day and night."
